THE FLY AND THE TOAD

June 3, 2015   9.19 a.m.

On the curved stretch of road

By the lay-by stood the hungry toad

Waiting for a stray fly to come prancing astray

For it’s feeding to be done for the day.

***

It’s late night

And they are out in heedless flight

The flies… taunting the night with flirty-colored tails

Tails calling out in the night to the toad to make one his late night meal.

 ***

On the curved stretch of road

Silently waits the hungry toad

For the listless and heedless flies

Because this night, as a must,  one flirty fly dies.

Merci.    9.26 a.m.
